Cottage Pie,

Nowt wrong with that I thought, It\'s British mince, it\'s tasty, and its got the word Pie in the name....

However, this caused some controversy, as I was told by several people, this is not a pie, as it doesn\'t have any pastry!

After quite some argument, and then a little research, I stand corrected, and can not refute, according to the dictionary, it is not a pie:

Pie

–noun

a baked food having a filling of fruit, meat, pudding, etc., prepared in a pastry-lined pan or dish and often topped with a pastry crust.

However, the said "pie" had already been made and eaten by this point, so it'll have to be excused.

After much debate, the nation seems divided as to weather Cottage Pie is officially a true pie, due to it’s lack of pastry.

According to the editor of the Delicious Magazine, yes I did ask… it IS a pie, but some remain un-convinced.

However, as the Cottage Pie / None-Pie debate rages on, Pie week continues;

(In a Geordie Big Brother narrator style accent)…

“British Pie Week, Day Two, and in an attempt to please the Pie Critics, Steven makes Short crust Pastry…”

To a slightly altered Gordon Ramsay recipe, Chicken & Mushroom pie with thyme & white wine sauce,,, Done.

However, to some this was still seemingly insufficient - as the pie only had a pastry top, which, whilst making it a bone fide, un-arguable Pie, it still attracted criticism for not being entirely encased in pastry, as a true pie should be!

Still you can’t please everyone, <-->
